South Coast Warrior Program for Veterans

Most active-duty U.S. military personnel and veterans are significantly strengthened by their service, whether in times of peace or war. However, many veterans face mental health challenges, substance abuse issues, and suicidal thoughts due to the loss of camaraderie, purpose, or the trauma experienced during their service. If this sounds like you or a loved one, the South Coast Counseling Warrior Program is designed to help.

Our program combines evidence-based treatment for veterans such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). For veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), we also deploy three of the most effective treatments: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy.

We also recognize the power of stress-reducing activities that provide calming relief. Therefore, we include Animal-Assisted Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Breathwork to aid in your peace.

If you’re a veteran seeking sobriety, relief, and recovery, our program is perfect for you. We provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can embrace treatment and distance yourself from stressors, triggers, and discomfort, while receiving outstanding care.

Tricare-Covered Veterans are Eligible to Get Treatment at South Coast Counseling if:

  1. You have Tricare (West Region); and
  2. You have more than a 30-minute average drive time for mental health treatment or a 60-minute average drive time for specialty care*; or
  3. You have more than a 20-day wait for mental health care, and non-institutional extended care services, unless the Veteran agrees to a later date in consultation with their VA health care provider. For instance, if you are a Veteran and live 10 miles from the nearest VA primary care provider, but it takes you over an hour to drive there on average due to heavy traffic, you would be eligible for community care.

Really enjoyed getting my treatment at South Coast Counseling. They had a great staff and got me on a good path to recovery. Taking the first step in getting the help I needed was difficult but I’m glad and grateful that I went to a good place to get me started on my path to sobriety. Also, I’d like to thank my case manager Michelle and others there (Jeremy, Jared, Stephanie, Skyler and everyone else) for thier help and support. I also made some good friends there as well.

My experience with SCC began the moment I was picked up from the airport. Upon arrival to the facility, it was nothing but kindness, respect, and genuine care for me and my journey while in their care. I made arrangements to extend my stay with them to 90 days simply because i felt like i was growing and gaining so much from them and their program. The staff goes above and beyond for each and every client. Although I extended my stay to 90 days, I had to leave at just over 60 days due to a call that had come for me to tell me that my husband had passed away. I owe my life and my sobriety to the SCC Treatment center and their entire team. I made it through my husband’s passing and months after still sober! I’m a few weeks away from getting my 6 month coin! Thank you SCC for giving me my life back! I could never repay or say it enough but, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!

Our family had an outstanding experience with SCC. My daughter has been to rehab 3 other times and this is the first one that really identified and addressed her underlying issues. The staff, in particular the counselor Michelle, did an exceptional job. I highly recommend them!

Wonderful and kind care for my daughter. Kind and helpful staff that communicated well and were always accessible and helpful. Multimodal care that helped my daughter find love and acceptance for herself. The right combo of firm love and structure with a lot of kindness sprinkled in. Thanks for helping my family.
