Veterans
South Coast Warrior Program for Veterans
Our program combines evidence-based treatment for veterans such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). For veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), we also deploy three of the most effective treatments: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy.
We also recognize the power of stress-reducing activities that provide calming relief. Therefore, we include Animal-Assisted Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Breathwork to aid in your peace.
If you’re a veteran seeking sobriety, relief, and recovery, our program is perfect for you. We provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can embrace treatment and distance yourself from stressors, triggers, and discomfort, while receiving outstanding care.
Tricare-Covered Veterans are Eligible to Get Treatment at South Coast Counseling if:
- You have Tricare (West Region); and
- You have more than a 30-minute average drive time for mental health treatment or a 60-minute average drive time for specialty care*; or
- You have more than a 20-day wait for mental health care, and non-institutional extended care services, unless the Veteran agrees to a later date in consultation with their VA health care provider. For instance, if you are a Veteran and live 10 miles from the nearest VA primary care provider, but it takes you over an hour to drive there on average due to heavy traffic, you would be eligible for community care.

The staff is courteous and helpful. The admin really look out for you as well. Great programming and the aftercare set up is phenomenal.Posted on glenway waltersAugust 7, 2025 This place really helped me get on my feet. All the staff were in my corner especially the higher ups like Katie, Joe, Bret, and David. Also the Techs really spent the extra time checking in daily and listening if I was struggling. Shout out to Jarrod, Destiny, Skylar, Jeremey, and Bo. Clinical and Therapy facilitated informative groups and met you for personal sessions. I’m grateful for the medical staff as well. We had fun outings and great food. The clients came together and supported each other. They have treated me like family here when I felt abandoned and lost. Since discharge I regularly Attend their Alumni. This place is a gem and I tell anyone that needs help to try it here.Posted on Torin DaveyAugust 6, 2025 SCC helped me to get sober and stay sober. This program saved my life. The staff is amazing and truly care. Skylar and Jared are the best!!!Posted on Angelica LopezJuly 10, 2025 This is a difficult review for me to write. Not because I can’t think of anything positive to say but because I don’t know where to begin. I have had a long history with this organization. Before I say anything further I want to start off by admitting that anyone who has gone through a medically assisted detox and then residential can always find something to criticize about the facility and the staff. There is always a lot of waiting and miscommunication issues. However, if you are reading this and have gone through this program or a similar program I think it is a very emotional time for people like us. We are literally in emotional and even physical pain which unfortunately there is no one qualified to totally remedy this. They can only help us through it the best they can. I’ll speak for myself and confess that I expected all my emotional and physical pain to be managed perfectly. I became impatient and selfish when this did not happen to a degree I could live with and in the timeframe I wanted. Even at the time I knew my behavior was inappropriate so I apologized many times. I was always forgiven and treated more than fairly afterwards. As I said in the first paragraph, I have history with this organization. They have saved my life many times and offered to scholarship me further beyond my original agreement with them. I moved away for a while out of state and in desperation, I called them. So many of the staff were still there as well as the founders and they remembered me right off the bat and without even having to put up much of an argument for myself they offered to scholarship me. In this review, I’m just gonna refer to my current experience. If anything, this organization has only improved. One of the founders would visit us almost every day, bearing gifts and taking us to run errands or helping us participate in our own Recovery at meetings, at church and so on. These people who run this place really care about you. I’m pretty sure this is a non-for-profit institution. I promise you they didn’t make any money off me. They made me feel important and cared about. I wanted to feel that way more than I cared about any luxurious amenities. That being said, the amenities are more than enough. The location is beautiful. If you’re into exercise, they have plenty of equipment in the backyard or they’ll just take you to a very nice gym in the morning if you’re up for it. The food there is fantastic. There’s plenty to make for yourself, delicious home-cooked meals on the regular and on other days there’s catering. They’ll take you out to eat after meetings or other events and expose you to the wonderful recovery community in Orange County. You will receive therapy, doctor visits, and if you just need to rest, you have access to more than enough movies as they have pretty much every streaming service there is. When I was detoxing, access to these was very helpful in comforting my mind and distracting me from the discomfort I was experiencing. They will not force you to do anything you don’t want to do. They’ll be patient with you as you are getting better. I could give example up upon example of how they did this for me. I was not the easiest client to deal with believe me. I left SCC on a bittersweet note. I had to leave a little earlier than planned, but that wasn’t their fault nor mine. It was to help other people and I happily agreed to step down to outpatient. Still though, they did not forget about me and offered to transport me back up on my 30 days, and one day after my 40th birthday to take my chip and to see the friends I made and the ones who hadn’t forgotten about me after being gone for 5 years. If you or a loved one needs help go to or refer them to SCCPosted on Andy BarberJuly 9, 2025 Before I even came to SCC, I was in contact with the admissions director, Katie, and she answered all of my questions and gave me all of the information I needed as I came to the decision to seek treatment. The whole team at SCC, from directors to group facilitators to techs, cares about the well-being of each client and makes decisions on an individualized basis for the best outcome possible. I spent 48 days in residential care before graduating to sober living and outpatient treatment, and I feel like I have been given a chance to change my life for the better and finally stand on my own two feet again. The team at SCC continues to be a lifeline for me and I cannot thank them enough for the opportunities I've had and continue to have. I'm 95 days sober and my mental health is better than it has been in years and I know I would not have been able to make it this far without SCC.Posted on Solace ParmerJuly 9, 2025 I am grateful to South Coast Counseling for being so welcoming and allowing me to go through the process at my own pace. I was certain that I would never find myself back in treatment none the less any 12 step rooms. After a few days of the fog starting to clear, I realized I was exactly where I needed to be. SCC is not just a place to help you get clean and sober, but a place that makes you feel like you are a part of the family and continues to offer so much support to their alumni.Posted on Stefanie GuzmanJune 27, 2025
